The Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department has its tanker truck back in service, thanks to the generosity of some area business owners and managers.

The CVFD discovered last year that its tanker truck had a major mechanical problem, and an inspection by Kennworth of Pennsylvania in Clintonville deemed the truck inoperable.

The cost of repairing the fire truck was beyond the department’s means.

The problem came to the attention of Tom and Nancy Hovis of Hovis Truck Service in Emlenton. Through their generosity, a used engine was donated to the fire department.

And the generosity didn’t stop there. Wade Calderwood, general manager of Kenworth of Pennsylvania in Clintonville and Ray Ludlam, service manager, donated the company’s time to take apart the engine and fix or replace all needed parts.

The Clintonville Fire Department services Clintonville and Barkeyville boroughs, surrounding townships such as Irwin, Clinton and Victory, and part of Scrubgrass Township. The department responded to 365 calls last year.
