The annual Blues and Food summer park event will start at 5 p.m. Friday, July 14, at Justus Park in downtown Oil City.

The event will feature musical entertainment from Max Schang and then Ron Yarosz and the Vehicle.

The event is a part of the ongoing music concert series sponsored by the Oil City Arts Council. Admission is free. Visitors are encouraged to take lawn chairs for seating.

Ron Yarosz and the Vehicle is known for its energetic performance. The band includes Eric Brewer on guitar, Norbie Gavin on drums and Jassen Wilber on bass. Frontman Yarosz plays harmonica and organ. The band is originally from Erie and is the winner of the 2011 Cleveland Blues Challenge and two-time winner of the Pittsburgh Blues Challenge. The band has also received 12 separate awards at the Erie Music Awards.

Max Schang is almost a household name in this county and is popular throughout the region. He has a 40-year performance career and is skilled in diverse forms of blues. He has played with well known musicians such as Eddie Shaw and The Wolf Gang, Lefty Dizz, Jimmy Thackery and Kenny Neal. He played at Chicago Blues Festival and made two European tours with stops in France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Slovenia. Schang’s album, “Back Up Again,” debuted on Roots Music Report national charts at number 28. He performs at more than 200 gigs a year.

The last summer concert in the park is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 18,with Rick Magee and the Roadhouse Rockers.

The smaller free lunchtime concerts continue Wednesdays in the Pipeline Alley on Seneca street with local musicians.
