Venango planning commission approves Cranberry tire store

The Venango County Planning Commission on Tuesday gave conditional approval to the construction of a retail store, Chris’s Tire Service, in Cranberry Township.

The proposed business will be a 7,500-square foot retail store at the corner of Felmlee and Old Salina roads. The store will have three service bays and 15 parking spaces, which exceeds parking requirements.

A similar business is also located on River Hill in Shippenville.

In other business Tuesday, the commission voted to grant Scott Snow a 90-day extension to meet conditions for approval of his proposed self-storage building in Cranberry Township.

Approval had been granted in December with several conditions.

No further extensions can be granted after the 90-day extension.

Community development planner Joshua Sterling said in his staff report that a contract has been was awarded for the demolition of a house at 1294 Riverside Drive in Cranberry Township that was deemed structurally unsound. The two-story home is owned by the township.

The contract was awarded to Bert Klapec Inc. in the amount of $11,800. The work is to be complete by March 8.

Deputy planning director Hilary Buchanan said in her staff report that PennDOT is in discussions with SPK Engineering for the design of a walkway between Franklin and the Sheetz in Sugarcreek Township.

The planning commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at 191 Howard St. in Franklin.
