OC Good Friday service available by remote viewing

From staff reports

The annual Good Friday laymen’s service in Oil City will be held as scheduled, with some changes that were necessitated by the COVID-19 crisis.

The breakfast portion of the annual service has been canceled. People who have already purchased a ticket for the breakfast can be reimbursed by sending their tickets with a return address to Frank Gill at P.O. Box 352, Reno, 16343.

The worship service, set for 7 a.m. Friday, will be available by remote viewing. It will be filmed from Grace United Methodist Church, where the service was originally planned to be held.

It will be available for viewing on Oil City Channel 22, streammedia.tv and at YouTube.com by entering “Oil City Good Friday Laymen’s Service” in the search window.

Matt LaVerde will lead the service. Fred Frye will read Scriptures and Joe Emanuele will accompany Ron Richburg’s solos of “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Ten Thousand Angels.”

The keynote speaker will be Jeff Steigerwald of Franklin. He will speak about his family’s faith-filled journey in dealing with his son’s cancer diagnosis.

His message is titled “Not by Our Own Strength.”

Steigerwald owns Seneca Printing Express & Label in Franklin. He attends the Franklin Church of the Nazarene, where he is active serving on the church board, as a Sunday School teacher and leader of the youth group.
