A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh confirmed an EF-0 tornado occurred at about 1 p.m. Thursday. The twister formed near Billingsly Road and advanced across an open field before crossing Route 417 near Speer’s Public Golf Course, according to Lee Hendricks, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

The tornado passed near a home and snapped about a dozen pine trees and uprooted another tree in its path that was 455 yards long, he added.
