House Investigation on VA Revolving Funds

The House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations held a hearing on VA’s handling of revolving funds. A revolving fund is a business run by a federal agency, under authority granted by Congress, comprised of enterprises that provide services and collect fees. VA publishes the Franchise Fund’s annual report, but the Supply Fund’s financial statements are not public. It was discovered that the Supply Fund ran a $37 million loss last year, but the financial statements characterized it as a profit. “I hope you can see why I am concerned,” said Chairwoman Jen Kiggans. “This is not transparency.”
