National advocate for shelter animals stops at Precious Paws Animal Rescue

Kris Rotonda, a national advocate for shelter animals, interacts with one of the rescue dogs at Precious Paws Animal Rescue in Franklin during the rescue’s fundraiser on Tuesday evening.

A Florida man who undertook a national initiative more than four years ago to advocate for shelter animals made a stop at Precious Paws Animal Rescue on Tuesday evening in a continuation of his personal mission.

Kris Rotonda, founder of Jordan’s Way, stopped at the Franklin rescue, where he conducted a three-hour, live Facebook fundraiser to raise money for Precious Paws and place a focus on the importance of adoption. Rotonda’s stop was part of his current three-state tour through Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey.

Since the inception of Jordan’s Way — the name of which was derived from a dog who spent nearly four years overlooked in a shelter and spent 11 years with Rotonda before she passed away from cancer — the LLC has traveled to 30 states and raised about $13 million.

Precious Paws’ hope is that Rotonda’s visit will end up generating $15,000 in donations over the next two weeks, said Theresa Weldon-Raecke, the local rescue’s president.

“It’s a fun way to get the word out and raise money,” she said.
