It was a homecoming of sorts for ‘I Love Clarion’

For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the “I Love Clarion” event returned to the PennWest Clarion stadium on Thursday.

“The mall was great to us. Bringing the event back to downtown Clarion was something we wanted to do,” Clarion Area Chamber of Business & Industry Executive Director Tracy Becker said. “Considering the summer we have had, we were lucky to have a perfect day.”

Becker said several nonprofits participated, including the Clarion Blue Print Committee. In addition, the girls scouts from the Knox area offered to help this year.

PennWest President John Anderson welcomed the Clarion community back to the stadium in a short address ahead of the fireworks.

People started filing into the stadium’s seats shortly after the gates opened at 4 p.m. Some brought blankets so they could sit on the stadium grass.

“The fireworks people were excited about doing the show at the stadium again,” Becker said. “The fireworks can be seen all over town and will explode over the river.

“It’s just great to see so many people out enjoying the evening. The community really came together for this event.”
