Shapiro signs bill to fully repeal decades-old Sunday hunting ban in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania’s longstanding ban on Sunday hunting has been fully repealed with the signing of House Bill 1431 into law by Governor Josh Shapiro, marking a historic win for hunters and conservation efforts. The Pennsylvania Game Commission celebrated the moment, noting it will help keep hunters engaged in managing wildlife populations. The law, now Act 36 of 2025, will take effect in 60 days, and the commission is reviewing options to add new Sunday hunting opportunities to the 2025-26 seasons. Rep. Mandy Steele called the repeal a major step in supporting tradition and future generations of Pennsylvania hunters.
