Meadville police issued a statement over the weekend addressing a widely viewed video showing a struggle during the Friday arrest of Nathan Koman on Baldwin Street. The video, which has drawn over 180,000 views, shows a shirtless man being taken into custody, with one officer appearing to punch him multiple times as another assists. The arrest stemmed from an outstanding warrant involving felony and misdemeanor drug charges. The department has launched an internal investigation and also hired retired FBI agent George Gast to lead an independent review. Police urged the public to be patient while all evidence — including body camera footage and witness accounts — is reviewed. Additional charges were filed against Koman on Sunday, including resisting arrest and public drunkenness. Authorities stated that no significant injuries occurred and no officers have been placed on leave, while also reaffirming their commitment to professionalism and public trust.
