The Oil City and Cranberry co-op cheer program held a fundraiser Friday night at Oil City High School with the goal of sending the cheerleaders to nationals in Texas in January.

The competitive cheer teams, both traditional and game day squads, qualified for nationals earlier this season.

The fundraiser entertained audience members with two local bands. The first band, Sickness, features area young people, and the second band that performed was the well-known Dead Level group.

Dead Level member Tom Burchfield shares a cheer connection as his daughter, Maryn, is an Oil City cheerleader.

Maryn also got up on stage during Friday’s event.

The teams hope their goal will be met with additional fundraisers, and if not, all funds raised will go to the entire cheer program.
