Sixth-grade students of teacher Eva Hollidge at Sandycreek Elementary School hosted a breakfast for veterans this week. Hollidge, who teaches health, science and social studies at Sandycreek, said the students have been learning in health class about collaborating with others for a common goal and giving back to their communities. She said her classes were asked to choose a service project they wanted to organize, and this class chose to honor veterans by hosting a breakfast. The class planned the event, made decorations and cards and greeted the veterans. The students asked the veterans questions and expressed their appreciation to them. (Submitted photo)
