Fly casting skills days will be conducted in June

From staff reports

Fly Fishers International (FFI) will conduct casting skills development at the Blood Farm day use area at Oil Creek State Park from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays June 10, 17 and 24.

June 10 will involve casting instruction and demonstration of each cast, June 17 will involve practice on the course and instruction where needed, and June 24 will involve a casting skills challenge.

FFI will have fly fishing outfits available to use. Children ages 12 through 17 must be accompanied by an adult.

FFI said the foundation level is ideal for those picking up a fly rod for the first time, or for a beginner with some fishing experience.

The group works toward an understanding of loop formation, loop control, accuracy and changing casting direction.

The bronze level will have casting instruction by master certified casting instructor Gary Kell and FFI certified instructor Bob Anderson.

All participants at the bronze level must have their own equipment.

Pre-registration and payment in the amount of $35 for the foundation level and $50 for the bronze level must be paid prior to the June 10 start date.
