Sugarcreek police promote mental health awareness through ice bucket challenge

Sugarcreek police officers Regina DeLoe and Travis Corbett pour ice water on, from left, officer Dave Wilson, Chief Bob Wenner and officer Matthew Johnson to promote mental health awareness.

Sugarcreek police officers proved they were up for a challenge that was laid on them by Venango County Human Services, as the officers on Thursday took a soaking during an ice bucket challenge in effort to raise mental health awareness.

Chief Bob Wenner and his officers were more than willing to accept the challenge, as their duties put them on the frontline of working with people dealing with mental health issues.

After taking the Human Services’ challenge, the officers then issued one of their own to the Venango County District Attorney’s Office, which accepted.

“If you need help, ask for it. You’re stronger if you ask,” Wenner advised anyone who could be suffering with mental health issues. “So, get the help. There are plenty of people who want to help. Please find somebody or call someone.”
