Murder suspect escapes from Warren County Prison

From staff reports

According to the Warren County Emergency Management Agency, murder suspect Michael Burham escaped from Warren County Prison in the early morning hours of Friday. EMA warns he is “extremely dangerous.”

According to a news release from Warren police, Burham was last seen in an orange/white striped jumpsuit, a denim jacket and Crocs.

“He was in the recreation yard during his allotted time. He stood on top of the exercise equipment, and from there was able to climb through the metal gating on the roof. He then used a rope made from bed sheets to go from the roof to the ground.” said Cecile Stelter, EMA public information officer.

Police said Burham is the primary suspect in the May 11 murder of Kala Hodgkin, of Jamestown, New York, as well as an arson case. Burham was being held in Warren County Prison to face charges in the kidnapping of two elderly people as well as carjacking.

Anyone who sees Burham or has information that could help lead to his capture should call 911.
