Online plans available for Georgetown Road bridge project

From staff reports

An online plans display for a project to preserve the bridge that carries Georgetown Road over Interstate 80 in Irwin Township is available for viewing.

The bridge is located on Georgetown Road (Route 3003) about a half mile north of its intersection with Route 208 (Clintonville Road).

The project includes milling and resurfacing the bridge’s concrete deck, as well as concrete repairs to the beams and piers. Work will also include guiderail updates.

Work is expected to occur during the 2024 construction season.

A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for about two months. The proposed 8.7-mile detour route will be posted using Old Route 8 (Route 3013), Route 8 and Route 208.

About 640 vehicles use the bridge daily on average.

The plans will be open until Jan. 26 and can be accessed by visiting the District 1 website, www.penndot.pa.gov/District1, under the design and construction projects link.

Those unable to access the information online may give feedback by contacting PennDOT project manager Daniel Staub at danstaub@pa.gov or (814) 678-2900.
