The United Way of Venango and Titusville Region is hosting its third summer of career-focused camps for middle school students, aiming to introduce them to unique job opportunities in the area through field trips to local businesses and guest speakers. Each summer features three week-long camps, with each week dedicated to a different career cluster. According to Jennifer Taylor, United Way’s Director of Education and Community Impact, the camps not only expose students to various trades but also allow them to enjoy games and activities with their peers. The initiative supports the growing emphasis on career readiness in education by giving students firsthand exposure to local industries—like touring the inside of Webco—to better understand what goes on behind the scenes. Many students have attended all three years, and Taylor says the goal has always been to shed light on the diverse career paths available right in their own communities.
