Demolition derby to close out a successful fair week in Clarion

Dustin and Bobbi Brocious, of Brocious Farms in New Bethlehem, met with Matt Wolford, Republican candidate for the Commonwealth Court, at the Clarion County Fair Friday. The Brosius farm has about 100 head of cattle and 25 hogs.

By all reports from both the fair board and those in attendance, the Clarion County Fair is having a great year.

“We have been blessed with great weather, and that has resulted in an increase in attendance for every event,” said Clarion County Fair Board President Josh Minich.

“We keep a tally at the gate, and the gate receipts are up,” he said. “We also keep track of the grandstand events, and the attendance for those events are up as well.”

The fair opens tomorrow with the antique tractor pull at 9 a.m., which was split from the modern tractor division this year “because we had so many people entering,” Minich said.

There is also a Kiddie Pedal Tractor Pull at 11 a.m. and 4-H project round up at 12:30 p.m.

The big event of the day is the Power Wheels Demolition Derby. “That event is huge for us,” said Minich, noting that they would be there rain or shine.

“It has been a great week,” said Minich. “Now we can start planning for next year.”
