Across the region, communities came together Tuesday to celebrate National Night Out with block parties and events that honored law enforcement, first responders, and community organizations. Municipalities like Oil City, Rocky Grove, Emlenton, and Titusville hosted gatherings featuring emergency responders, military representatives, healthcare professionals, and even alternative healers. At Rocky Grove Fire Hall’s second annual event, families enjoyed food, face painting, circus-style entertainment, and the chance to interact with first responders and explore emergency vehicles. Organizer Rebecca Smeal emphasized the importance of connecting the community with those who serve, particularly to support healing from trauma and PTSD. UPMC provided health screenings, while RAACA gave away backpacks to children, helping ease the financial burden of back-to-school season. Oil City’s new event at the South Side Neighborhood Hub was also a hit, featuring local emergency vehicles and support from multiple service organizations. Community members and first responders alike praised the events for building trust, strengthening relationships, and showing appreciation for those who protect and serve.
