Oil Creek State Park sets Chicks-in-the-Sticks event

The Friends of Oil Creek State Park has announced the group will hold its Chicks-in-the-Sticks event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Egbert Farm day use area of Oil Creek State Park.

The classes are for women at least 18 years old, and participants can choose four classes. Each class is hands-on, and the participants will produce an item, be introduced to a skill or get projects that they can take home.

The classes are run by expert instructors and include archery, kayaking, fly casting, plant identification, herb walk, outdoor cooking, medicinal uses of herbs, moving in nature, art of wood burning, Nordic sports, yoga, hiking, outdoor photography and others.

A registration fee of $55 is required. Lunch will be included.

Registration begins April 17 and ends June 9.

Registration is limited to 100 participants and can be made online by check or credit card. Early registration is recommended.

This is a rain or shine event.

The Petroleum Center bridge will be closed, so attendees should go to the Friends of Oil Creek State Park website for directions to the Egbert Farm day use area.
