Students raise funds for hospital patients

The Rocky Grove High School Oriole Health Club and Franklin-Oil Region Credit Union raised $200 to benefit the Patient Hardship Fund of the Northwest Hospital Foundation. The club hosted a Community Night Fundraiser at Hoss’s, where students raised $100 that was matched by the credit union. The Patient Hardship Fund is an emergency fund for patients at UPMC Northwest who are uninsured or under-insured, and without the means to pay for minor expenses related to their care. It is available to assist patients in obtaining prescriptions, durable medical equipment, supplies and services. The students are, from left, in front, Kye Winslow and Katie Beggs; from left, in middle, Elizabeth Mawhinney, Faith Copley, Audra Pierce, Brooklyn Burchanowski, Lainie Jarzenske and Leighaunna Seippel. With the students are, from left, Karen Baldwin, credit union CEO; Kelly Hart, school principal; Leann Highfield, teacher and club adviser; Juliet Hilburn, the foundation’s annual giving officer; and Theresa Edder, the foundation’s executive director.
