12 local students graduate from welding program

Twelve local high school students have graduated from the Community College of Allegheny County’s welding technology certificate program at the Clarion County Career Center.

Students who earned their certificates were Joseph Anthony, Abbigale Bell, Makenden Courson, Keegan Dawson, Christian Earley, Trenton Harris, Tyson Hopper, Colton Livengood, Wyatt McCleary, Gavin Miller, Jacob Naser and Tyler Wensel.

The welding program was facilitated by the Keystone Community Education Council and funded through the Appalachian Regional Commission POWER Grant.

The program covered beginner to advanced welding, earning students 18 college credits.

Classes were held three days a week after school at the Career Center from November to May.

The program was coordinated with support from Traci Wildeson, director of career and technical education at the Career Center, who assisted on-site.

Classes were taught by Jeff Courson, an adjunct welding instructor at the Community College of Allegheny County.
