Communities mourn loss of Chester County state trooper

A Pennsylvania State Police corporal with more than a decade of service was killed during a traffic stop Sunday night in Chester County. Cpl. Timothy J. O’Connor Jr., who enlisted in 2010 and was promoted to corporal in 2023, was shot while approaching a vehicle he had pulled over for an erratic driver in West Caln Township. Authorities said the 32-year-old driver shot O’Connor through the window before leaving the vehicle and taking his own life. O’Connor was taken to Paoli Hospital, where he later died. He is survived by his wife, daughter and parents, and Gov. Josh Shapiro ordered flags across Pennsylvania to be lowered in his honor.
