Curb ramp work set on Liberty St. in Franklin

Work on Liberty Street curb ramps in downtown Franklin will begin later this week.

The safety and accessibility project includes the installation of new handicapped-accessible curb cuts and pedestrian push-buttons at the four corners at 13th and Liberty Streets and at the mid-block crossing in the 1200 block of Liberty Street.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to pay attention to the signage directing them around the project area.

In a special meeting earlier this month Franklin City Council awarded the contract for the work to Blue Rock Construction in the amount of $96,804.37. The firm submitted the lower of two bids received for the contract.

Project funding includes a $100,000 PennDOT multimodal transportation grant and a match of $45,801 from the city’s Downtown Development Fund.

The project is expected to be substantially complete by Sept. 30.
