Emlenton gets into the Halloween spirit

Dressed as druids, from left, 12-year-old Pippi Tedeschi and her 10-year-old sister, Josie, both of Sligo, lead the group category in the Emlenton Civic Club Halloween Parade on Saturday.

Emlenton’s Halloween festivities took place on Saturday afternoon, with the town’s annual parade kicking off a day of family-friendly fun.

The event, held a day after Halloween, featured a colorful costume parade along a block of Main Street, which was closed to traffic for the occasion.

The Emlenton Civic Club organized the parade and hosted several activities, including a performance by the Dancing Witches of Emlenton and a “Ghost Cafe” offering refreshments.

Children in creative costumes paraded past three judges — Mayor Judy Lents, council member Amy Whitehill, and former Allegheny-Clarion Valley art teacher Anita Allen, who awarded prizes in categories that included funniest, scariest, duo/group and homemade costumes.

After the parade, the festivities continued with boroughwide trick-or-treating.
