Franklin schools to receive $8M in state funding after budget passage

Franklin Area School District will soon receive its long-delayed state funding, with $8 million arriving in two installments after the Pennsylvania budget passed. Business Manager Kim Eaton said the district will maintain its expected basic and special education funding, gain a small boost for Pre-K Counts, and see some cost savings from new cyber charter reforms. The district had delayed purchases and prepared for a possible loan during the impasse but will no longer need it. The board also approved joining a countywide girls’ wrestling team, renewed purchasing agreements and student support services, handled several personnel moves, and heard departing board members Alesha Hartsfield and Ron Richburg reflect on their years of service.
