Good Hope and Zion Lutheran churches in Oil City will again deliver Thanksgiving meals to the elderly, shut-in and homebound members of the community on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
There is no charge for the food or delivery of the meals.
The outreach ministry started in 2002, when the two churches partnered to provide a monthly free community meal for residents who live on the east side of Oil City.
On Thanksgiving Day of that year, the churches delivered 114 free Thanksgiving meals to elderly and shut-in Oil City residents.
The cost of the food is funded by local grants and by generous support from community groups and individual community members.
Anyone who is interested in supporting the outreach ministry by any means (monetary or volunteering) may call Joyce Frenz, director of community ministries for the churches, at (724) 699-0861.
People who want to order a meal for themselves or others in need may call Good Hope at (814) 676-9122 between 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday by Sunday Nov. 19.
