Ground broken for St. Stephen playground

St. Stephen School Home and School Association president McKenzie Healy (left) and Administrative Assistant at St. Stephen School Misti Kresinski carry a sign announcing that a new playground will soon adorn the front lawn of the school.

Students at St. Stephen School in Oil City will enjoy a new playground this fall, with construction started by Joe Klapec & Son Inc. The $80,000 project, funded partly by a $40,000 Phillips Trust grant, will feature slides, monkey bars, and tiered platforms. The playground will span 80 by 84 feet and be available to all students, coinciding with the school’s return to a pre-K through eighth-grade format. Fundraisers, including the VRCS Festival and a golf outing, will support the Venango Region Catholic School system and ongoing Catholic education in the area.
