New rescue truck for OC fire department

The Oil City Fire Department recently purchased a 2017 rescue truck that allows paramedics to arrive at the scene quicker where advanced life saving care is needed. Fire chief Mark Hicks said the estimated replacement cost for the previous truck was $90,000 but that the new truck was purchased for $41,000. Hicks said the lower cost was a result of a different design and new ideas on how best to optimize service, including carrying the rescue tool on a fire engine rather than in the rescue truck. The rescue truck carries everything an ambulance carries except a stretcher. The truck can’t be used to transport patients but is used to allow paramedics to arrive ahead of the ambulance and begin lifesaving care. (Submitted photo)
