OC board hears report from Nutrition Group

Oil City School Board members listened to a presentation by The Nutrition Group, the school district’s food service provider, at their work session Monday evening.

Jodee Raybuck of The Nutrition Group updated the board on new signage in the district cafeterias, the food staff professional development day that was held at Clarion University, and various menu changes and upgrades that are in the works this year.

The Nutrition Group is piloting a new digital ordering option for students at Oil City High School, Raybuck said.

In other matters, Superintendent Lynda Weller told the board that the high school’s Find Your Future day last Wednesday was “pretty amazing” and “a great day.”

Some students took the PSAT, SAT and ASVAB exams while others went on tours of various businesses and the military training base at Venango Regional Airport, Weller said.

Many students also got in community service hours cleaning, organizing and painting at the high school complex. Weller said they discovered all sorts of things in the high school basement and filled three trash containers with junk.

Weller commended the Oilers football team on their first undefeated regular season since 1998. The Oilers are 9-0 heading into the District 10 Class 4A playoffs, and they will face General McLane at 7 p.m. Saturday at Franklin High School.

Weller also commended the Oilers Marching Band, which placed first in the Clarion Autumn Leaf Festival band competition in the triple A category.

Board members also went over routine matters at their work session Monday that they will vote on at next week’s meeting.

All board members except Jim Disque were present Monday.
