Oil City basketball teams defeat Conneaut Area

The JV and Varsity region matchup between the Oil City Oilers and the Conneaut Area Eagles was a blowout for the Oilers in both games on Jan. 24, 2023.

The JV matchup was one sided the entire game. After the first quarter, the score was 11-0, thanks to Gavin Stephen’s 3 at the buzzer. In the second quarter, the Oilers took off and by halftime the score was 33-0. The Oilers came out in the second half with the same intensity as Jacob Teeter had back-to-back and 1’s. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 46-2. The final score for the game was 56-4 and the leading scorer for the Oilers was Jacob Teeter with 17 points.

During the Varsity game, the Oilers were only up 1 at the end of the first quarter. In second quarter, the Oilers got hot, increasing the lead to 34-17 at half. The Oilers kept their foot on the gas in the second half making the final score 69-32. The leading scorers for the Oilers were Jacob Hornbeck with 22 points, Cam VanWormer with 14, Sayyid Donald with 12, and Connor Highfield with 10.
