Oil Region Festival of the Book planned at Oil City Library

From staff reports

The Oil Region Library Association will host the first Oil Region Festival of the Book from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21.

The festival will be held in the Central Avenue Plaza right outside the Oil City Library.

The festival will provide an opportunity for community outreach to local and regional published authors, according to Dan Flaherty, executive director of the Library Association. Participating authors will be provided space at the festival to engage with attendees and to share and sell their works.

Also featured at the festival will be local food vendors, library card sign-ups, children’s activities, live music, raffles, and guest speakers, including past and present Oil City mayors and local authors Corey McCullough and Charlie Cotherman.

Historical items from the Oil City Heritage Society and Oil City 150 memorabilia will also be on sale during the festival.

The festival is free to attend, and all ages are welcome.

Authors interested in applying to be a featured author at the event should email fotb@oilregionlibraries.org or call (814) 678-3072.
