Pet crematory has opened in Franklin

Those who have lost a four-legged, furry or feathered friend have a new place in Venango County where they can go in their time of loss.

Furever Friends LLC, a pet cremation center affiliated with Warren Funeral Homes, recently opened at 1312 Chestnut St. in Franklin in the former McCall’s Notary building, across the street from Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

A grand opening is scheduled for Sept. 13.

The center is owned by Ryan and Amy Warren of Gardinier-Warren Funeral Home, and it offers individual and communal cremation services for pets as well as urns, jewelry and keepsakes for people to keep their pets close.

“Pets are a part of the family like everyone else,” said Ryan Warren. “We’ve given Venango County a nice facility where they can bring their four-legged family members and friends.”

While the crematory is affiliated with Warren Funeral Homes, it is its own business.

“We’ve been talking about doing it for a couple years, but it wasn’t the right time,” Ryan Warren said, adding that when the building right across the street went up for sale, it was an obvious choice.

A 14-by-35-foot addition was added onto the back of the building to house the crematory.

Individual pet remains are returned in an urn option, and in the case of communal cremations of multiple animals, Warren said the remains are scattered in a scenic parcel of country land.

Furever Friends also offers home removal of remains.

Amy Warren said the couple is also working on a memorial wall in the front of the crematory where people can bring photographs of their pets.
