UPMC Northwest names chief nursing officer

Robin Melvin of Cambridge Springs has been named chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care services at UPMC Northwest.

Melvin, who comes to UPMC Northwest from Hamot in Erie, earned a master of nursing degree from the University of Phoenix.

She has been in the nursing field for 32 years and has an extensive background in critical care nursing.

She was program director for Hamot’s Magnet Designation, a prestigious distinction held by six percent of U.S. hospitals and designed to provide consistent top tier levels of care from highly educated and trained staff.

Melvin will provide executive nursing management, direction and leadership at UPMC Northwest. She will be responsible for driving, supporting and modeling a caring service-oriented professional culture and will serve as a member of the executive leadership team.
