3 juveniles charged with arson

From staff reports

Oil City police have charged three male juveniles with felony counts of arson and related offenses in connection with a June 20 incident near Lee’s Lane behind 137 West Third St.

Oil City police and firefighters responded to a call that afternoon about three youngsters starting a fire with a gas can. Officials on the scene spoke to a 10-year-old boy while the other two boys, both 11, ran home, police said.

Further investigation revealed that the three had stolen lighters from CVS and then used the lighters and stolen gas cans to light fires in the 100 block of East Fourth Street, on Pine Street and at Lee’s Lane, police said.

The fires caused minor damages, according to police.

Juvenile allegations have been filed against the three boys.
