Franklin Boy Scout earns honor

Andrew Burda, a Boy Scout with Troop 111 in Franklin and a student at St. Patrick School, was awarded the Ad Altare Dei Medal during Mass on Sunday at St. Patrick Church.

Burda earned the award while studying the seven sacraments of the church with deacon Walt Jones.

After completing his studies with Jones, Burda sat before a review board and answered many questions about the sacraments. The board found Burda to be well versed in the sacraments and awarded him the medal.

He is the first Scout from St. Patrick to receive the award since 1997.
