Franklin pilot, 5 others escape injury

A Franklin man and five passengers escaped injury Sunday in a plane crash at the Titusville Airport.

Sgt. Ruel Root of the Titusville Police Department said 67-year-old William Fritz of Franklin was piloting the single-prop plane that had taken off from a location in Michigan en route to Titusville.

Root said the department received a call just before 5:15 p.m. when the plane went down at the airport while trying to land.

None of the people on board were injured, Root said, and the crash was a result of engine failure.

The Civil Air Patrol, Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, Titusville police and the Titusville fire department all responded to the scene.
