OC woman held for manslaughter, drug charges

 An Oil City woman arrested in late April after being found to be in possession of heroin and marijuana was held for court Wednesday.

Brianna Wert, 23, appeared before district judge Matthew Kirtland for the preliminary hearing in Venango County Central Court.

Wert was taken into custody by Oil City police April 27 along Cornplanter Avenue.

Charges against Wert include a felony count of drug delivery resulting in death, a misdemeanor count of involuntary manslaughter, one count of use/possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of intentional possession of a controlled substance and one count of manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver.

Kirtland ruled that all charges will be bound over for further proceedings.

Wert remains in the Venango County jail on $35,000 bail.
