Oil Creek 5 & 13 stacked trail races coming in May to Titusville

From staff reports

Friends of Drake Well Inc. and the Titusville Area Trails Association have announced the return of the Oil Creek 5 & 13 stacked trail races on Saturday, May 20.

The races support local trail improvements, particularly the Queen City Trail crossing at the Jersey Bridge Trail Head along Drake Well Road that many trail users utilize to access Drake Well Museum and Park.

The 5 & 13 races begin at the museum and feature a five-mile race and 13-mile race using paths and trails around the museum, including the Gerard Hiking Trail in Oil Creek State Park.

The races feature the “stacked challenge.” Race start times are staged 90 minutes apart with the five-mile race starting at 7 a.m. followed by the 13-mile race at 8:30 a.m.

There will be finisher’s awards for each race distance as well as for the stacked challenge.

Jacob Kosker returns as race director, having played a big part in the planning and implementation of last year’s initial races.

The Titusville Trails Association is collaborating with Friends of Drake Well Inc. on the event as the two organizations work together to improve trail access to both Drake Well Museum and the City of Titusville.
