Polk man facing aggravated assault charges

From staff reports

A Polk man is facing charges for threatening two women with a gun at a residence in Frenchcreek Township.

Polk police said in a criminal complaint that an altercation broke out July 11 between Gary Wood, 58, and two women at Wood’s property on Whipperwill Road.

Wood pulled out a pistol from his pocket and placed the barrel against the head of one of the women, leaving an imprint of the gun barrel, the complaint said. Wood then pointed the gun at the other woman and threatened her, the complaint said.

Wood then went back onto his property and the women left, the complaint said.

One of the women told police she was at the property to retrieve her personal property from the residence, the complaint said.

Wood was charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault-attempt to cause or causes bodily injury with deadly weapon and two misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats.

He was arraigned and placed in the Venango County jail after being unable to post bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
