2 women face multiple charges for forging checks

Two women face a plethora of charges after forging checks in November and December last year.

According to Franklin police, Rita Mueller-Bugna, 51, of Oil City, and Tasha Baker, 25, of Franklin, forged and attempted to cash sixteen checks between Nov. 12, 2016, and Dec. 19, 2016.

Bugna and Baker allegedly wrote several checks from the bank account of Baker’s father after stealing the checkbook.

Bugna wrote the checks out in the victim’s name and then cashed them in his account before using his ATM card to withdraw the funds.

Baker was charged with conspiracy to commit forgery, access device fraud, identity theft and theft of movable property.

Bugna was charged with forgery, access device fraud, theft of movable property, identity theft and conspiracy and attempt for all the same charges.
