Beginner and Intermediate Fly-tying Lessons offered

From staff reports

Keystone Fly Fishers will offer a beginner fly-tying class each Wednesday from Jan. 17 through Feb. 7 at the Emerging Technology Center, 191 Howard St., Franklin.

Each class will begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude between 8 and 8:30 p.m.

All fly-tying tools will be provided (people may bring their own tools) and all materials will be provided with individual instruction.

The class will be limited to eight individuals. Anyone ages 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult.

All classes cost $40. A few fly-tying tool kits are available, at an additional cost of $20 on a first-come-first-served basis.

Keystone Fly Fishers will then offer an intermediate class on Wednesdays beginning Feb. 21, same time and location, which will run through March 12.

Cost for that class is $50 and will be designed around matching local northwestern Pennsylvania hatches, mayflies, caddisflies, stoneflies and more.

Participants should have their own fly-tying tools and Keystone Fly Fishers will provide materials.

Anyone registering for this class should be an experienced fly tier with moderate fly-tying skills.

Pre-registration is required and may be done by emailing Keystoneflyfishers1@gmail.com, and can also be found on Facebook at Keystone Fly Fishers.
