Blood drive set Thursday in Seneca

From staff reports

A blood drive, hosted by the Oil City and Franklin Rotary Clubs, will be held from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday at UPMC Seneca Place, 3163 Route 257, next to Mong’s Tasty Freeze.

All blood collected at this drive will be used by Community Blood Bank, which is the exclusive supplier of blood to UPMC Northwest.

“We chose to partner with the Community Blood Bank because they keep the blood local. All blood donated at our drives goes right back to the UPMC Northwest Hospital,” Rotary member Laura Ordaz said in an email.

“Donating is more important than ever, especially around the holidays/winter when so many accidents occur. Donations in general are down, but also tend to decrease between Thanksgiving and Christmas; so we are hoping to get as many donors in as possible.”

Donors must be at least age 17 or 16 with parental consent, and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Donors also must have had no tattoos or piercing in the past three months, be in general good health, have eaten before donating and wear a mask.

A photo identification is required and walk-ins are welcome. All donors will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 VISA gift card.
