Beginning Monday, the Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will phase out the Token Transit app in Venango County and introduce the new CATA Pay mobile ticketing system for full fare and discount passes. Riders can download the CATA Pay app from the App Store or Google Play, or purchase smartcards at the CATA office in Oil City or the Venango Transportation Office in Franklin, as tickets will no longer be sold on buses. While old punch tickets and Token Transit passes bought before July 14 will still be accepted through December 31, the new app allows users to add value, buy rides, plan trips, and simply tap to ride, with fares automatically deducted. Discount passes will be available through the app, online at catapay.catabus.org, or in person at CATA locations, with prices ranging from $10 for a 6-ride adult pass to $20 for a 20-ride adult pass. CATA staff will be available today and Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Clifford Street hub in Oil City and Buffalo Street in Franklin to demonstrate the new system and answer questions. For more details, riders can call 814-336-5600.
