The staffing shortage at the Clarion County jail has been resolved, according to Warden Sherry Yates, who told the jail board last week that the facility is now fully staffed with 24 full-time and 14 part-time corrections officers. Staffing levels had improved since September, when a shortage forced the county to transfer 23 inmates to Jefferson County under an informal agreement costing Clarion $75 per inmate per day. Complaints from some transferred inmates about their treatment were denied by both counties. During the meeting, the board also heard a presentation from former SCI warden Derek Oberlander on a jail management app being offered to the county for a six-month trial at no cost, though no action was taken. The jail board will meet next at 9 a.m. Friday, March 6, at the jail.
