Cochranton Community Fair scheduled Aug. 7-12

From staff reports

The 94th annual Cochranton Community fair is scheduled Monday, Aug. 7, through Saturday, Aug. 12.

Exhibit entry forms are due by Saturday. That deadline is uniform for all departments. All entry forms should be postmarked no later than July 15.

Parade

A float contest is included in the Aug. 9 parade, but participants only need to apply using the parade’s paperwork found at www.cochrantonevents.com. Parade entries do not need to register a second time with the fair.

Pageant directors whose pageants occur after the July 15 deadline to register are asked to register their entourage of royalty by the deadline and forward the names/biographical information as soon as pageants are completed.

For more parade information, send an email to cfp.parade@gmail.com, call (814) 425-3683, or fill out the contact form on the website. Email is preferred and messages/voicemails will be returned as soon as possible.

Other entertainment and activities

Musical entertainers will perform all six nights with a new lineup for 2023, including The Honky Tonk Twins, The B2wins, Caleb Kopta, Brett Allen Morgan, The Pittsburgh Belairs and Morgan White. As a free admission fair, there are no ticket sales for stage entertainment.

Other activities include the Clark Duncan Corn-A-Ment, woodsmen contest, garden tractor pulls and other activities. There are also two new contests — the baby photo contest and pet dress-up photo contest.

The fair’s premium book is available at many businesses throughout Crawford, northern Mercer and southern Erie counties.

If area residents can’t locate a book locally, they can find it at www.cochrantonfair.org and download the entire book along with entry forms.

The poultry department will remain “virtual” utilizing photographs of the birds and a “virtual” swine department has been added with all the details in the premium book.

Virtual contests utilizing photography allow exhibitors to compete even when the state has restrictions placed on certain species of animals that cannot attend the fair.

Further details and schedules will be announced in the weeks leading up to the opening of the fair. People also can find a copy of the fair premium book at local businesses.
