Commencement speaker set at Clarion High School

Clarion Area High School has announced Clarion native Nate Cyphert — a singer, songwriter and musician — will be the commencement speaker at this year’s graduation.

The 2003 Clarion High School graduate, who now lives in Los Angeles, studied music at Hofstra University, and is classically trained in violin. He also plays piano and guitar.

Cyphert spent several years touring across the United States as the lead singer in an independent band. In 2013, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue songwriting.

He has written hit songs across diverse genres, including six-time platinum No. 1, “H.O.L.Y.,” by Florida Georgia Line, which was awarded BMI Country Song of the Year in 2017.

Other notable collaborators include Keith Urban, BTS, Andy Grammer, Marshmello, Usher and Carly Rae Jepsen.
