Cranberry Parade applications due this week

Planning is in full swing for Cranberry’s first parade in 30 years, which will kick off the Cranberry Festival at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20. Organized by the Cranberry Small Business Association and themed “Decades Past,” the parade has already drawn nearly 20 entries from local groups, businesses, and officials, including volunteer fire departments, the Oil City Marching Band, and state Rep. R. Lee James. To accommodate spectators, the route has been moved from Main Street to Route 257, where the Venango County Sheriff’s Department will lead the procession and local fire police will assist with traffic control. Road closures and detours are planned, and PennDOT is working with organizers on permits. With no registration fee, strong community support, and plenty of volunteer effort, the event is being celebrated as both a revival of tradition and a chance to create new memories.
