Cranberry seniors hone their interview skills

Cranberry Area High School senior Addysen Fawcett, who serves as editor of the school’s Cranberry Chronicles, meets Luka Krneta, editor of The Derrick and The News-Herald prior to sitting down with Krneta for a mock interview on Thursday.

Nearly 80 students at Cranberry Area High School met with representatives from about 30 area businesses and agencies for mock interviews at the school.

Students took part on Thursday and were again scheduled to meet with the employers today for learning sessions that depict actual job interviews.

Students set to be interviewed were matched with employers of which the students expressed an interest. The Derrick and The News-Herald on Thursday interviewed two of them, Chloe Baumcratz and Addysen Fawcett, and another student was scheduled to take part in a mock interview with the newspaper this morning.

Interviewers modified a set of tailored questions provided by the school to their company’s specific needs. The mock interview with Fawcett, who serves as editor of the school’s journalism class publication, the Cranberry Chronicles, resulted in an opportunity to serve as a freelancer for The Derrick and The News-Herald.
