Dinner fundraiser will help mission team

From staff reports

A small group of local residents will travel to the Dominican Republic later this month for a short-term mission trip through the Hope for Hispaniola program.

A spaghetti dinner is being held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin to help the group raise funds for the trip.

The dinner will be offered by donation.

Hope for Hispaniola strengthens local churches in the Dominican Republic through evangelism and discipleship.

The organization has been providing service within the Dominican and Haitian communities through various food pantry projects, medical missions, Vacation Bible School, women’s ministries and children’s center since 2004.

Many local churches have participated in short-term mission trips through Hope For Hispaniola.

Later this month, Rina Anderson, Frank and Cindy Fultz, Lynn and Bill Black and Bill and Sandi Young will travel to the Dominican to work on a new medical clinic building.

The group also will assist with some hurricane relief efforts during their stay.
